Product Leadership - Reusability and Performance
Manufacturing a tire requires complex engineering processes. Our highly-trained teammates use innovative technologies to unite the many components of a tire into a safe, high performing, and cost effective product. Although current technology limits the use of recycled tire material in new tires, using recycled tire material for other purposes is possible. Did you know that tires are one of the most recycled and beneficially reused consumer products?
The tire industry, in partnership with a growing number of other industries, is discovering that end-of-life tires can be reused to make other products. Several leading reuses of tire material include tire derived fuel, asphalt rubber, and athletic fields. Each example shows that Bridgestone and the tire industry are dedicated to conserving resources through product reuse.
Bridgestone never stops working to produce tires and other products that meet the highest standards for environmental performance. Our achievements include tires that are more fuel-efficient and longer lasting. For example, our Ecopia tires feature industry leading advances in reducing rolling resistance, which allows for great fuel efficiency for the car. Not surprisingly, the Ecopia is often the original equipment (OE) found on hybrid vehicles. Our Runflat car tires, which eliminate the need for a spare tire, create fuel saving weight reductions. Our Greatec extrawide tires for trucks and buses reduce rubber consumption and scrap, by replacing the standard dual-tire configuration.
Our Polyiso foam insulation board offers high energy efficiency through the highest R-value ratings per inch versus other insulation materials, saving our customers in energy costs. Our Garden Roof systems are a fast growing segment in commercial roofing and help our customers qualify for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) register mark points.
These and many other examples demonstrate our
product-oriented approach to conservation.
